What We Deserve (Psalm 7)

Pondering human responsibilty and God's justice.

Verse 1:
I’d serve my time if I deserved it, face the music if I heard it,
Take reward if I have earned it, but it ain't my call to make
If I were guilty I'd be bracin’ for the comeuppance for my hatin’
If I deserved it, no debatin’, but it ain't my call to make

Refrain:
Do we get what we deserve? Is that how justice works?
Do we get what we deserve? Is this God's hope for the world?

Verse 2:
They’re in the wrong— they should be punished
Made their bed— they’ll soon be finished
Be up to me they'd all be banished, but it ain't my call to make
If they were guilty they'd be bracin’ for the comeuppance for their hatin’
If they deserved it, no debatin’, but it ain't my call to make

Verse 3:
I’m not the one to be the judger I'm so glad that I discovered
It's not my job— there is another See it ain't my call to make
So I demand that there be justice when all my faith in humans plummets
In my anger wanna bust it but it ain't my call to make
